Lottery and gaming management in the 21st century

Gestión de loterías y apuestas en el siglo XXI

Loterías y Apuestas del Estado is on the technological cutting edge of the gaming sector thanks to its highly advanced development and innovation capabilities, which provide a structure and advanced support of management and control, both of the active and passive games.

LAE has a group of specialists that ensure, at all times, the levels of stability, availability and performance of the data servers and applications that are located at the facilities of the Data Processing Centre (DPC) of Xaudaró in Madrid, which are designed to support the Comprehensive Lottery Management System (SIGILO) and the entity's staff management system.

For greater security, these data servers and applications have a back-up replication at the DPC on C/ Manuel Tovar (Madrid), which is managed by STL, the technological company owned 100% by LAE, created to provide LAE with information and communication technology services.

In addition, with STL's support, LAE carries out the acquisition, installation, maintenance and operation of comprehensive lottery management systems, consisting of 12,119 game terminals installed in the more than 10,500 points-of-sale that are distributed throughout Spain.

Through these terminals, tickets are issued, data is transmitted to the central equipment for the subsequent scrutinies to be carried out for the active games marketed by LAE and the prizes for all the games are paid out. Daily summaries of sales and payments are also carried out through these terminals.

The two Data Processing Centres, which are at different locations, work as symmetrical alternating back-up centres, which ensures the continuity and security of the entire gaming system.
