San Ildefonso Residence

The children of the San Ildefonso Residence of the Madrid City Council have been the voice of the National Lottery since the 18th century. They are synonymous with luck, illusion and joy, and their monody stars in the Christmas Draw year after year. As part of its commitment to the progress of the members of the Residence, Loterías y Apuestas del Estado maintains an annual agreement with the San Ildefonso Residence.

The collaboration between SELAE and the Residencia (an institution that was founded in 1543) has more than two and a half centuries of history. It dates back to 9 March 1771, when the boy Diego López became the first student to sing the Lottery. The Directorate of Lotteries then made a donation of 500 reals to the institution for this collaboration. Since that date, the boys and girls of the Residence have been part of the history of our National Lottery.
