Loterías y Apuestas del Estado, state-owned entity

Sociedad Estatal Loterías y Apuestas del Estado, S.M.E, S.A., attached to the Ministry of Finance and Public Function, was created by Royal Decree-Law 13/2010 of 3 December 2010, which reorganises the activity of the public business entity Loterías y Apuestas del Estado (LAE).

The entity's share capital is made up of all the assets and liabilities, goods and rights, as well as the enabling titles that until 2010 were owned by the public business entity Loterías y Apuestas del Estado. This includes all the rights and obligations in relation to the points of sale and delegations to which the administrative regulations continue to apply on a transitional basis, with all the guarantees set out in Additional Provision 34 of Law 26/2009 of 23 December remaining in force.

The Sociedad Estatal Loterías y Apuestas del Estado is responsible for the management of the reserved games of state-owned lotteries and holds special licences for the marketing of mutual sports and horse betting, as reported by the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego.
